EUGENE, Ore. — The council talked about whether to use park bond money to help build a skate park in Washington-Jefferson Park Wednesday.
The project still needs $600,000.
Some councilors worry that the bond’s rules won’t allow that money to be used for this project, but many supported the idea.
“There’s a compelling need for activity for youth. I just think when we’re out here talking about how to prevent gang activity, when we’re trying to have positive activity instead of negative activity, it fits into many other things that we’re trying to meet the needs of,” said Mayor Kitty Piercy.
The council didn’t end up making a decision.
