Council Hosting Exclusion Zone Hearing

EUGENE, Ore. — A public hearing Monday, Sept. 17 could help determine the fate of Eugene’s Downtown Public Safety Zone.

The ordinance bans people cited for certain crimes downtown from going downtown, but it’s set to expire soon.

The city council is considering changing the code or letting it expire.

The public we spoke to had mixed emotions.

Some thought the council should renew it. Others think people should not be kicked out of the zone right away.

If you want to give your opinion, the public hearing is at 7:30 p.m. at the downtown Eugene Public Library.
