Council To Look At Illegal Fireworks

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene City Council wants to start a conversation surrounding illegal fireworks.

At least four councilors agreed it seems the problem with illegal fireworks being set off in the city is getting worse. Mayor Kitty Piercy told the council she thinks this is becoming a safety issue for homes and property.

Councilor Clair Syrett asked the council take up a discussion about this issue at a future work session.

“You know there is a fire hazard when you have illegal fireworks that shoot up into the air and they can land in trees and on people’s roofs,” said Syrett. “There’s that issue as well as the real quality of life impact when folks are basically setting off M-80’s around the corner from your house.”

Two Eugene residents also commented during the public comment session pleading with the city to do something about the issue.

Fire works you are talking about are illegal. So my question to you is what are you going to do about it? Eugene is such lame lib tard town you only pass bills/policies that the people won’t be allowed to vote on. Commies

It is the 4th of July let people celebrate. If the council wants to do something about quality of life DO NOT build three story apartment buildings in a neighborhood that has primarily single family homes – That was a almost country in feel – with very few bus routes and so it will force people to drive more. Then allow a sight and sound fence that you can see through.

Get real City Council! This is one night – the apartments are for as long as I can stand the noise.

They need to patrol the town for people making illegal fireworks. a couple years ago some neighbors set off a huge one. they lit it with black poweder and the street was on fire. there was a very bright flash and MASSIVE explosion. i called non emergency but they did nothing. this hone also speeds down residential homes drunk.
