County Cuts Child Porn Investigations

EUGENE, Ore. — Another victim of Lane County budget cuts is child pornography investigations.

Along with closing jail beds, which led to the release of all these inmates, the county cut a forensic analyst position and other positions that helped with those cases.

That meant dumping at least 40 cases that detectives were working on. Those cases will likely not be investigated, and without investigation there will be no prosecution.

“We could pull up the state of Oregon and the most IP addresses were the Portland area and the second was Lane County area. So we’re in there with no resources to work these,” said Detective Aaron Hoberg, Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Even though it doesn’t have a staff to investigate these types of crimes, the sheriff’s office still wants you to report any distribution of child pornography or the use of children in pornography immediately.

Why would you do a report on this? No one involved in the process of publishing this article took a second and thought maybe it might be better to just say nothing on this topic so the pedophiles don’t get to breath a sigh of relief thinking the majority of the heat on them is now gone. Never stopped to think that making this news might make a pedophile go even further than they did before. Everything doesn’t need to be publicized just because it happens.

    yeah, we already know.

They sat around in a circle and thought of the MOST outrageous things they could then held a press release and said “look what YOU did to us”

The sheriffs office has cried wolf WAY TOO MANY TIMES.

I don’t really care if they even exist anymore, if they would just shut up.

Eugene should build its own jail.

I have never had more contempt for a police agency like I do LCSO
