EUGENE, Ore. — Fire season is just around the corner and Lane County wants to make sure you and your family are safe, by offering grants to upgrade your home.
Lane County Land Management is offering qualifying residents $500,000 worth of financial assistance to make homes fire safe.
You can start applying Monday with the Firewise Incentive Program.
Last year, staff took in 300 applications for projects such as replacing roofs, siding, windows and doors with fire resistant building materials and to make Firewise improvements to landscaping.
The incentives range from funding 25 percent to 80 percent of construction costs for many of the projects. The grant is only for rural Lane County property owners, so those who live within city limits don’t qualify.
Applications are online starting Monday, but Lane County Land Management won’t accept them until next Monday, May 12.
