County Seeks Input on Outdoor Events

8-23 kaleidoscope music festivalEUGENE, Ore. — Lane County officials are seeking input from the public on how to make sure large outdoor events in the area stay safe.

Right now counties are not required to issue permits for events with fewer than 3,000 people, but officials say smaller events can still get out of control.

Land management staff are proposing new rules that would apply to events with 300 people or more, regarding traffic, sanitation and fire prevention.

The county’s holding two listening sessions this week. Tuesday’s session is 3-7 p.m. at the Florence Events Center, located at 715 Quince Street. There will be another session on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Lane County Customer Service Center, located at 3050 N. Delta Hwy. in Eugene.
