EUGENE, Ore. — The mid-December deadline to sign up for health insurance for the new year is quickly approaching, but the Cover Oregon website is still not working properly. Cover Oregon staff will be in Eugene Thursday to help people apply.
Cover Oregon is holding an application fair at the Lane Events Center. It’s one of six fairs across the state to help people sign up in person for health insurance.
If you choose to attend, Cover Oregon staff and community partners will guide you through the application process. Space is limited, so you’re encouraged to pre-register online. There are eight sessions from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Spots were filling up quickly and because of the high level of interest, Cover Oregon staff say you may have to wait at least an hour before receiving help. To get a head start, they suggest downloading and printing the application form and filling out as much information as possible before arriving at the fair.
You also need certain information with you. You’ll need your social security number, birth dates, employer and income information, and information about your expenses and other health insurance policies if you have them.
If you would like to pre-register, you have until 8 a.m. Thursday.
