Crash Injures One on NW Expressway

EUGENE, Ore. — A woman went to the hospital after a bad crash on Northwest Expressway.

It happened around 9 a.m. Thursday morning. Police say a van pulled out in front of a jeep and headed north on the expressway.

The jeep’s driver tried to swerve, but ended up flipping his car. Paramedics took the van’s driver to the hospital. The jeep’s driver wasn’t hurt.

“A little shaken up, yeah. His significant other came and hugged him and they appeared to shocked, but glad to be doing okay,” said Officer Andrew Whipple, Eugene Police Department.

Eugene police don’t think weather was a factor, but a crash like this serves as a reminder to drive a little slower and turn on your lights.

This intersection is dangerous. People pull out in front of other people all the time. There are accidents here all the time, something has be changed. Perhaps a stoplight put in!

It is an expressway. We do not need more traffic lights. People are just too preoccupied while driving these days

I agree with Jean. Distracted driving accounts for a lot of stress to people while driving. I drive for a living and lose count every day of the number of times I have to take actions to keep from being in a crash. Lots of time its a person on a cell phone or in to big of a hurry. People also not caring about the connivance that put other drivers in by not paying attention to what is going on around them while driving. My thought to weed out the worst offenders, make them take a driving test every 4 years when the have to renew their licence.
