EUGENE, Ore. — Parts of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard were closed Wednesday as Eugene police investigated a major accident.

Emergency crews took three people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The crash was around 5:30 Wednesday evening. Police say an SUV rear-ended a car on MLK Blvd. near Centennial Loop. The driver of the car was taken to the ICU.

Two other people also went to the hospital. The Major Collision Team is investigating what happened, but officers are looking for witnesses.

“We’re looking for driving behaviors leading up to the crash,” said Officer Michael Klews. “A lot of people don’t recognize the fact that it’s the pieces before that we need the most help with.”

Police would not rule out if alcohol played a role in the crash.
