Credit Card Parking Meters Coming Down

parking meterEUGENE, Ore. — Credit card parking meters in downtown Eugene are coming down Tuesday.

The city is removing about 75 meters near the Park Blocks area. They were installed last summer as part of a pilot program.

The city decided not to buy them because they are too expensive. The meters cost $500 each, plus credit card transaction fees.

In its place, the city will re-install old-fashioned coin-operated meters.

Who the heck has coins in their pockets anymore. I was so happy that the lot at the library took credit or o wouldn’t have been able to take the grandkids in.
