Creswell City Councilor Resigns

CRESWELL, Ore. — One Creswell city councilor is leaving his post for a new career.

A.J. O’Connell is resigning from the council effective Monday night. He plans to move to California for a job at a YMCA there and says although he’s enjoyed his time on the council, he’s ready to pursue this career change.

The 26-year-old helped to resolve skydiving issues with the Creswell airport and supported the city’s efforts to increase public safety with an extra Lane County Sheriff’s deputy this year. He was elected to the city council in November 2012 and also took part in an unsuccessful run for mayor last year.
