Crews Battle Fire At Apartment Complex

EUGENE, Ore.– Fire crews battled an apartment fire in Eugene Monday evening. Crews treated one person for smoke inhalation.

The fire call went out about 7:45 p.m. to the Riviera Village Apartments off River Road. Crews had the fire out in about 5 minutes.

One tenant was treated for smoke inhalation and that person’s apartment is unlivable. The apartment next door also had extensive smoke damage and those tenants will have to be out of their apartment for a couple of days.

Red cross is assisting both of the tenants.

Crews say the apartments are close to a fire station and that helped.

“it was a very short response time and we were able to get a good knock down on the fire quickly it’s relatively surrounded by fire stations and we were able to get crews on the fire and get it handled before it spread to the other apartments,” said Battalion Chief Jeff Kronser with the Eugene Fire Department.

The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
