EUGENE, Ore– Fire crews are on top of the Coburg Hills, fighting a wildfire that began Thursday night.
At last check, the blaze has consumed about 18 acres. The flames were well visible from I-5 Thursday night and Friday morning.
The fire is burning in large brush and debris in the area, firefighters say the flames reached more than 30 feet high.
55 firefighters are working on the fire including several engines, a bull dozer and water tenders bringing nearly 3000 gallons of water to the fire.
Overnight, the Mohawk Valley and Coburg Fire Deptartments were providing mutual aid in suppressing the fire.
The Oregon Department of Forestry is at the scene. There is now word yet on what caused the fire.

How come it took so long to report this?
I saw this fire from my house at 10:15pm last night.
This has the potential for major problems.
