And thanks to the dry, sunny weather, one of those projects will be finished a bit early.
Crews at Gateway Mall are building both a Walmart Neighborhood Market as well as a Buffalo Wild Wings. The mall’s manager says both of these projects are taking less time than expected.
Both the construction workers at the Walmart grocery store and Buffalo Wild Wings spent Wednesday afternoon building the new businesses, but the two sites look a bit different from one another.
“On the exterior we’re putting some stone veneer and finishing the structural steel on the patio,” said Kim Anderson, construction superintendent.
While the Buffalo Wild Wings site is clearly a brand new building, the Walmart market is not. Workers at that construction site are converting the old Circuit City building into the grocery store.
A spokesperson for Walmart says the neighborhood market will open its doors at the end of this year. But for wing lovers, the wait for Buffalo Wild Wings won’t be as long.
“It’s going so well that we’re going to open a week early,” said Anderson.
And even though the signs outside say the restaurant will open in July 2013, workers finishing early means you can be enjoying those wings.
Right now, both projects have close to the same amount of workers. The Walmart spokesperson says the company hired between 40 and 50 construction workers to complete its project. The Buffalo Wild Wings has the same amount of workers, each specializing in a specific trade.
So with a combination of specialized workers and sunny dry weather, wing lovers from the Willamette Valley should be able to eat up a bit earlier than scheduled. The restaurant will open in exactly two months.
