Crews Contain Sparrow Park Fire

REEDSPORT, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Forestry contained a 42-acre wildfire Monday morning.

ODF says the Sparrow Park fire, burning five miles north of Reedsport started Sunday on the land covered by the Coos Forest Protective Association.

CFPA sent two 10-person inmate hand crews, two association six-person crews, fire engines, water tenders and an observation airplane in the suppression effort.

Crews will continue to mop-up the burned land, which may take several days because of the heavy fuels.

ODF says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
