Crowd Fills Budget Cut Meeting

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Budget Committee held its first meeting since City Manager Jon Ruiz unveiled his budget last week.

Tuesday’s meeting, held in the Downtown Public Library’s Bascom-Tykeson room, was filled with people concerned about budget cuts. People also lined the hall and packed onto sidewalks outside. The committee even had to extend the time for public comment to give those who signed up a chance to speak about potential cuts.

Another budget meeting will be held on Thursday, May 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the Bascom-Tykeson room. There will also be time for public comment at that meeting.
