TUPELO, Miss. — At least 26 people are dead from Oklahoma to Alabama after a two day storm pummeled the south. Monday’s twisters destroyed homes, flipped cars and trucks and left tens of thousands of customers without power.
At least nine people were killed Monday in Alabama and Mississippi. Search and rescue crews were working through the night to find anyone else who may be trapped in the debris.
The same system spawned its first deadly twisters on Sunday. At least nine people were killed in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Iowa.
