EUGENE, Ore. — The Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the Glenwood area Thursday morning.
It’s treating this as a suspicious death.
Just before 10 a.m., deputies were called out to a home in the 1600 block of South Brooklyn Street.
It’s where they found a 49-year-old man dead.
Tape still surrounded the home in the early afternoon.
The man’s caregiver made the discovery
Neighbors describe the victim as friendly and well liked.
The county medical examiner is working with the sheriff’s office to determine the cause of death.
“As we have investigators in there right now putting pieces of the puzzle, and if we can’t immediately put together a cause of death that isn’t called suspicious, we end up calling it suspicious. That way we look at all the avenues and we get the whole story,” said Sgt. Carrie Carver.
Details remain limited.
There is no word yet on when or if the medical examiner will perform an autopsy.
Deputies have yet to release the victim’s identity as they work to notify the man’s relatives.
