Deputy Wattier Moved to Portland

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene couple injured in a hit and run are on the long road to recovery.

Drew Wattier, a Lane County sheriff’s deputy, has been moved to a medical care facility in Portland. He’s been unconscious since the accident, but the couple’s friends and family have vowed to stay with them every step of the way.

“There are so many people here that care about them and love them and we want to be able to see them and hold their hand and cheer them on throughout their recovery process, so the goal has always been closer to home,” said Sgt. Carrie Carver, Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Drew’s wife Michelle is still in San Diego. She regained consciousness last week.
