Developer Proposes Glenwood Hotel

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield city councilors approved the sale of two pieces of riverfront property that may soon be home to a hotel.

The sale was for $160,000. The developer is proposing an 85-room hotel that’s very close to the new I-5 bridge in Glenwood. Construction could begin by summer of 2014.

Springfield says it purchased the pieces of land with the intentions of eventually selling it a developer.

Yeah… no one will want to stay in a hotel in Glenwood. I know this is part of the plan to revitalize that area and make it more attractive, but I think that hotels should come later in the process rather than at the beginning.
