EUGENE, Ore. — Three years to the day after it opened, The Divine Cupcake is closing the doors of its shop on West 11th Avenue.
But just as it did on opening day and its anniversaries, the cupcakery handed out free goodies all day.
Customers who poured through the door for their free cupcake say it’s sad to see it go.
“This is the last day, and I haven’t been here for awhile,” said 5-year-old customer Kaya Macdowell.
“They’re giving us a complimentary cupcake, a sendoff, and we just wanted to come say goodbye, and hopefully they’ll open again soon in a different location,” said Whitney Cutler.
The owners say they’re going to focus on special events and catering because the shop didn’t have enough foot traffic.
