Dog Found Safe after Fire

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. – The North Lincoln Fire & Rescue says a woman was reunited with her dog after a fire Saturday morning.

Rescue crews say they were dispatched to the Sea Gypsy Condominiums around 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning. Crews say when they arrived two apartments were engulfed in flames.

Jade Hachem and her golden retriever, Sadie, were sleeping in one of the units when they awoke to flames and smoke in the apartment.

Hachem suffered second degree burns as she evacuated the building. When she was evacuating she says she couldn’t find Sadie.

Hachem was taken to the Samaritian North Lincoln Hospital and treated for her injuries. She was released late Saturday.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but the two units were completely destroyed. Crews searched the area for Sadie but didn’t find her.

On Sunday afternoon, Sadie was found walking on the beach in front of the D-Sands Condominiums. She was taken to the Lincoln City Animal Clinic and treated for smoke inhalation. She was released Monday.

Investigators say the cause of the fire appears to be from an unknown electrical problem near the head of Hachem’s bed.
