The UPS Store in Springfield is just one of the businesses taking part in the American Cancer Society’s first-ever Bark for Life event on Sept. 15.
Dogs aren’t allowed at the annual relay for life event, so organizers say it’s a great opportunity for people to thank their four-legged friends.
“A lot of people they’re their person that goes to treatment with them every day. They’re their person that alerts them if they need to take their medication. They’re their therapy treatments, and lot of people rely on their dogs to be with them daily, just to be there with them throughout their support and treatment,” said Jessica Mermis, Event Coordinator.
