As of right now, nurses at the Douglas County Health Center say they haven’t had any reports of the flu just yet, but expect it’s on its way.
So while they were surprised how early in the season the recent outbreak in Springfield occurred, they weren’t surprised that it happened.
“The world is a small place. People go to Eugene and Portland. People fly in from all over. Flu is always out there, so we know it’s going to arrive. And we just want people prepared with their vaccine if it happens,” said nurse Barb Hofford.
Nurses say flu season’s just beginning and it will run through about March. They’re expecting a spike in cases next month.
