Downed Trees Turned into Mulch

tree recyclingEUGENE, Ore. — As the storm cleanup continues around town, people are turning downed trees into mulch.

Lane Forest Products says they’ve had nonstop traffic throughout the week as people take advantage of the mulch making program.

It costs $4 per cubic yard, and staff is on hand to help people unload their cars. So far they’ve received 1,400 cubic yards of debris this week, and it will all be recycled.

“A hundred percent of it is getting reused at some place. It’s either going to become compost that will be reused in somebody’s garden or soil mixed that we make, something of that nature,” said Tom Campbell, Lane Forest Products Manager.

They’ll be mulching trees Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
