Drag Boat Racing Comes to Dexter Lake

DEXTER LAKE, Ore. — The weekend is revving up at Dexter Lake, as boaters arrive in town for the Columbia Drag Boat Association Northwest Nationals.

Organizers say the event features some of the hottest action in the country. You’ll see drag boats that reach speeds up to 230 mph.

Travel Lane County says three drag boat events are held on Dexter Lake each year bringing in nearly a million dollars.

“It’s a very significant group that really does draw a lot of publicity to the area and a lot of economic impacts,” said Lisa Lawton, Travel Lane County Director of Community Relations.

Lisa Lawton says Dexter Lake is the place to be. There are a number of annual recreational events at the lake.
