BENTON COUNTY, Ore. — An alcohol-related crash Thursday sent a Corvallis woman to the hospital with critical injuries.
Benton County sheriff’s deputies say Matthew Cannard, 29, of McMinnville, was driving west on Highway 20 when his Toyota crashed into a car turning east onto the highway.
Deputies say Cannard ran a red light and crashed head-on into the Buick, driven by an OSU student. That female driver, 21-year-old Jessica Neffendorf, was extricated from her car and taken to the hospital.
Cannard was also evaluated for minor injuries, then arrested for DUII and reckless driving. He’s currently at the Benton County Jail.
Benton County sheriff’s deputies are continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information is asked to call Deputy David Iverson at 541-766-6858.
