Driver Killed in Crash near Oakridge

OAKRIDGE, Ore. — Highway 58 is still restricted to one lane after a crash Thursday morning killed one driver.

It happened just before 8 a.m. about two miles east of Oakridge. Oregon State Police troopers say a truck pulling a trailer was headed westbound when it failed to make it through a right curve. The truck and trailer crossed into the eastbound lane, hit a guardrail, and then went down an embankment and stopped next to salt creek.

“When we get done taking measurements, talking to people who witnessed him driving prior to the crash, we’ll be able to have a pretty good idea based on roadway and vehicle evidence what happened,” said Master Sgt. Lane Hinkle, Oregon State Police.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene. OSP is working with the oakridge fire department to figure out what caused the crash.
