Driver Killed in HWY 22 Crash

SALEM, Ore. — Oregon State Police is investigating a crash Tuesday afternoon that resulted in the death of a man.

Troopers say around 2:45 p.m. a commercial truck pulling a flatbed trailer, driven by Scott Olsen, 56, of Everett, was turning eastbound onto Highway 22. Before Olsen completed the turn, a pickup truck travelling west collided with the trailer.

The driver of the pickup, James Miller, 63, of Dallas, was transported to the Salem Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Troopers say Miller was not wearing a seatbelt.

OSP says Olsen was not injured in the crash.

The highway was partially blocked as troopers worked to clear the scene. OSP is continuing its investigation into the crash.
