Drug Mixture Leads to Hospitalization

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene Police says two juveniles were taken to the hospital Monday morning after consuming a mixture of cough syrup and hard alcohol.

Police say one juvenile was found along the bicycle path near Beltline Highway and Royal Avenue. Officers say the young man was lying unconscious in a ditch next to the path.

Officers attempted to wake the juvenile, but were unable to. They said he was still breathing, with a strong odor of alcohol.

The Eugene Fire Department responded to the scene and took the juvenile to a local hospital.

Officers later confirmed that the juvenile and a friend had consumed cough syrup and hard alcohol. The friend was also transported to a local hospital after police officers found him at his home and evaluated him.
