Dry Conditions Halt Deer Season

EUGENE, Ore. — The Pole Creek Fire near Sisters is now 80 percent contained, but dry conditions remain throughout Oregon.

That means about 50 percent of private timberlands will be closed when the deer hunting season opens Saturday, according to the director of forest protection in Oregon.

The screws will also be tightened on campfires, smoking and vehicle travel on state and national forest land.

You can find more information about the land closures here.
