Duck Fans Tailgate in Glendale

GLENDALE, Ariz. — They’re the sights and sounds of Duck fans’ pre-game rituals.

“The key to a good tailgate is good people, good drinks and good food,” said Alberto.

There’s plenty of all three surrounding University of Phoenix Stadium.

You can tell which Ducks flew south and which ones sported their Oregon pride all the way to Glendale.

It’s also easy to spot the tailgate pros. They had appetizers, chips, sweets, cheese, crackers, beverages and lots of meat for the barbecue.

The Duck fans here also seem to have made amends with the fact that they’ll just be pops of yellow and green in a sea of purple inside the stadium.

“It’s been a while since Kansas State has been in a game like this, so I can understand that,” Phil said.

The Oregon fans here are a small minority of Duck nation who still thought the Fiesta Bowl was worth a trip.

“Very long trip, but you have to follow your Ducks,” said John.

“We’re probably a little bit spoiled,” Phil said.

But these guys are making the most of it.

“We’ve got good friends. We’ve got loud music, some good food, beer and friends. That’s it,” Kirk said.

The only thing needed to make this day even better–a Duck victory.
