EUGENE, Ore. — The Ducks take on the Stanford Cardinal Thursday and fans are standing by to root them on.
The first flight to San Francisco took off at 5:15 a.m. Thursday morning and the last seat on the flight was over $300, one way. Because of the high airfare, Premier Travel Agency in Springfield said many fans decided to drive to Stanford.
Thursday’s game is sold out, with only standing room tickets available for $100. Travel agencies say the game had them working around the clock booking flights and making hotel reservations.
One fan was planning on going, but changed his mind after seeing the high airfares.
“I was planning on going down there and a couple of days ago I look at flights and they were completely full or just outrageously priced. They were over a thousand dollars. And tickets right now to go to the game are $100 so it just didn’t make sense financially,” says John Liekhus.
There are several watch parties happening around town. The UO Alumni Association’s Lane County Chapter is having a watch party at the new Wild Duck Cafe on Willakenzie. There’s also one on the UO campus, at the EMU in the Fishbowl.
