EUGENE, Ore. — At a time when Duck football tickets are typically sold out, there are still a couple hundred available.
To hear that tickets are still available is surprising to some fans but not others who say it really comes down to the price.
Ticket prices went up about 13 percent from 2011. This is the first time in four years season tickets haven’t sold out this close to football camp. The fans speculate it’s the price. Others say it’s a weak home schedule. Others say more games will be shown on TV this time around. Whatever the reason, the athletic department still expects to fully sell out.
“We don’t view it as a down schedule. Any time you get four great PAC-12 games here in Autzen as well as three other quality games during the great quality weather in September here in Eugene, it should be a no-brainer,” said Garrett Klassy, Assistant Athletic Director.
Athletic managers say prices increased to keep up with other football programs across the country, especially those with larger stadiums. They also say there’s always an influx in ticket sales once fall football camp starts, which is next week.
