Ducks End Westhead Era with WNIT Loss

Oregon head coach Paul Westhead:

Oregon’s Ariel Thomas and Jillian Alleyne:

EUGENE, Ore.– The Oregon women’s basketball team couldn’t hold onto a 12-point halftime lead, losing to Washington in the second round of the WNIT, ending their 2013-14 season. The defeat also marked the end of the Paul Westhead era at Oregon. The university announced earlier in the month that Westhead’s contract won’t be renewed beyond this year.

Jillian Alleyne recorded recorded a Pac-12 record 29th double-double of the season with 17 points and 25 rebounds, in the process becoming just the fifth player in NCAA history to grab 500 rebounds in a single season.

Ariel Thomas scored a team-high 24 points, while Chrishae Rowe (17 points), Katelyn Loper (14 points) and Lexi Petersen (13 points) provided the rest of the Ducks scoring.
