EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Oregon track team kicked off its outdoor season Saturday, but they weren’t the only ones taking Hayward Field.
The U of O track team and the City of Eugene teamed up to provide a free clinic for children Saturday. Children got to meet athletes and coaches from the U of O track team. Organizers are hopeful that the chance to run on Hayward Field will encourage kids to exercise.
“Well the goal is to give youth access to track and field. Being Tracktown, this is a great way to get kids on to Hayward Field and experience the magic just for themselves,” said event organizer Kim McManus.
The participants also got free admission to the Oregon Preview, the Ducks’ outdoor track and field opening meet.
