EUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene staple since 1955 is now closing.
After more than 50 years of service, Edman Furniture will be closing its doors, but not without a bang.
“We sent out fliers for our previous customers to attend a sale for today, Wednesday and Thursday. We had no idea it would cause such a stir, this is very exciting,” said Whitney Edman of Edman Furniture.
Hundreds packed the family-run store trying to grab some last-minute deals.
“We’ve been asked how long will the sale continue, and we say ‘when everything goes,'” Edman said.
The store owner, Babe Edman, has decided to retire. But as for the store’s future, his daughters are taking it over, remodeling it and planning to open a boutique.
“It’s going to be plum full of really specialty gifts and design pieces, so one-of-a-kind pieces we’re going to be mixing in, things that you can’t find everywhere,” Edman said.
Only the Eugene Edman location will close its doors. The Bend store will continue to stay open.
“There have been moments as things are leaving, so are the memories of the store,” Edman said.
If you want to get in on the deals, the store will open to the public on Friday starting at 10 a.m.
