Elk Poaching Investigation

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State Police is offering a reward to anyone who knows anything about who poached an elk north of Corvallis.

Troopers say someone found between 250-300 pounds of wasted elk meat dumped on Oregon State University’s property on Tampico Road a couple weeks ago.

Investigators say someone cut off the bull elk’s antlers from the skull with a saw.

“It can be very difficult to investigate,” said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police. “A lot of times they’re being done, these crimes are being committed where no one is around to see someone commit them but these people do at times end up talking to others.”

OSP is offering up to a $250 reward with the help of arresting and convicting the person(s) involved. If you know anything about the case, call Albany Trooper Kirk Burkholder at (541) 967-2026, or the OSP tip line at 800-452-7888
