SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Energy meters are available at the Springfield Public Library for users to check out. The meters monitor the amount of energy running household appliances and devices. They can be used on 120 volt devices, such as TVs, toasters and lamps.
Users can also automatically calculate energy costs based on current Springfield Utility Board rates.
The Springfield Utility Board donated the meters to the library for people to monitor and reduce their energy use.
The meters can be checked out by members of the library at no charge, and keep it for three weeks.
