EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene Police say they arrested a man after he entered a home and assaulted a woman Monday.
Around 2 a.m. officers responded to the 600 block of Raber Road where they found neighbors detaining Tyler Joseph Kowalchuk, 20, after he attacked a woman.
Police say a 50-year-old female victim was home alone when she heard noises in her home. She went to check and found Kowalchuk in the hallway. Kowalchuk attacked the woman. She was able to get back up and run out of the house through her garage and almost made it to the driveway before Kowalchuk caught her. He knocked her to the ground and continued beating her.
Neighbors heard her screams, came outside and physically restrained Kowalchuk until police arrived.
Kowalchuk was arrested for attempted murder, kidnapping, assault, robbery, burglary and strangulation.
