EPD Arrests Demonstrator

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Police arrested two men Wednesday after a scuffle with officers in an incident connected to the ongoing SLEEPS protest.

EPD says Larry Michael Pleasant was arrested on charges of assault, and interfering with a police officer. Joshua Tompkin is charged with criminal mischief and cited for prohibited camping.

EPD Lieutenant Eric Klinko says officers moved in to arrest Tompkin on the Lane County Public Service Building terrace. They say he used chalk to write on the building.

Lt. Klinko says a group demonstrating at the old federal building nearby, saw what was happening and rushed over. While being placed under arrest, Klinko says Pleasant struggled with officers, kicking one in the head, causing minor injuries.

A third person was cited for prohibited camping.
