EPD Busts Off-Campus Party

Party Arrest HouseEUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police say a loud party near the University of Oregon got out of control Friday night leading to two arrests and several citations.

Police say just before 11 p.m., they could hear loud noise and music about a half block from a home on the 1100 block of Ferry Street.

Officers say multiple people were drinking with open alcohol containers on the porch. When police approached the house, they say dozens stormed out the back door. They say it was clear people were not going to comply.

“The officers heard the noise disturbance. [They] saw individuals from the front porch go back into the house,”  said Lt. Sean McGann with EPD. “[Officers] tried to make contact over numerous times. No one came to the front door.”

After getting a search warrant over the phone, police then entered the home and found about 40 people hiding inside. They arrested two men who they say were the hosts of the party–Christopher Larsen and Danny Escalante. Thirteen others were cited for minors in possession.

EPD says they visit this neighborhood every year because of noise complaints. They say they’re focusing on the area and trying to spread the motto of the Social Host Ordinance: “Party Safe, Party Responsibly.”
