EPD Collecting Hero for a Day Donations

hero for a dayEUGENE, Ore. — Some local foster children have the chance to feel like heroes this weekend, and organizers could use the powers of the community to help put the event on.

The Eugene Police Department has teamed up with A Family for Every Child to support the first annual Hero for a Day event for boys in foster care.

They need everything from masks, to capes, to caps, jerseys and sporting equipment. Any type of clothing fit for a superhero that can help make this day special is needed.

“You know, the Marvel Comics, Captain America, the Hulk, Superman, Batman–those are probably the usual hero themes that people try to get,” said Officer Judd Warden, Eugene Police Department.

You can donate now through Saturday.

The event happens Sunday at the Moshofsky Center. It’s free for foster children and $50 for other community members.
