Estimating Price of Civic Stadium

EUGENE, Ore. — A recent appraisal of the historic Civic Stadium reveals it may be worth at least $5.5 million.

The 4J School District had the grounds appraised as it evaluates proposals for the purchase, trade or long-term lease of Civic.

The $5.5 million proposal is for the property zoned as a medium density area, but goes up to nearly $10 million for high density residential.

While the district released the appraisal, it says it doesn’t establish a price for the property.

The school board has said it will look at all options when it comes to decision time and not necessarily the highest dollar amount.

what a crock that’s tax payer money that bought that land it needs to be sold to the highest bidder period. our school districts , cities and counties shouldn’t be in the land holding business at all excess lands which aren’t intended for future parks or schools should be sold to the highest bidder and the money used to lessen the tax payers burden

4J should have never asked for a bond measure last fall when they had 10 million dollars sitting right there that they could liquidate. we need to hold these public officials accountable for every dollar they get and responcible for. they are not land barons they are public employees paid to do the best job with the best deal for the citizens that pay their salaries

I wasn’t aware that 4J, with public funds, could discriminate on bidders by picking and choosing who to sell the property for, including selling at a discount, ignoring a higher priced offer.

    4J needs to get sued.

B TW, the City has no money, remember, they are holding workshops to fix budget problems. Why would you go shopping for a junked out stadium when you are broke?

Why go for a new city hall when they are broke? Why pay the city manager over $150,000.00 a year salary when the governor of the entire state is only paid $93,000.00?

This is like when Springfield had a real estate company put a value on Goshen School. They picked a number from thin air and said, “make and offer.”
