Eugene Airport Looks to Develop Hotel

EUGENE, Ore. — Travelers coming into the Eugene Airport won’t have to travel downtown or to Springfield to find a hotel in the near future.

The airport will be looking for a developer to build a hotel on the corner of Awbrey Lane and Highway 99. Leasing the land would bring in extra revenue for the airport–that means cheaper airfares.

“Any airport revenue that we’re able to generate from anything other than airlines helps us lower our rates and charges for the airlines,” said Cathryn Stephens, Eugene Airport Spokeswoman.

The airport doesn’t have a certain hotel in mind, but it’s looking for a four or five-star hotel facility. It has yet to set an opening date.
