Eugene Airport Remodels Terminal Lobby

AIRPORT PICEUGENE, Ore. — A year of construction at the Eugene Airport is finally complete, and the public got its first look at all the work Wednesday.

There are now brand new ticket counters and monitors, and the lobby space has been opened up.

Airport officials say the goal of the project was to move the checked baggage screening machines out of the lobby, and into a private back room, which will make the airport experience faster and much more efficient.

“It’s great because the more busier that we get, the more room that we need in our terminal building and this gives us a lot of lobby space that we did not have before because the machines are taking up the space. It also makes it more convenient for our passengers, more easy for our passengers to come through and it speeds up the process,” said Tim Doll, Eugene Airport Director.

The $5 million project started last April was funded by a grant from the TSA.
