EUGENE, Ore. — A number of western Oregon companies are among the top in the state. One of them even placed third in the large company category.

A total of 273 companies in Oregon were surveyed and employees were asked about their benefit plans, what they think of management, and simply whether they enjoy working at their job.

Oregon Research Institute ranked sixth on the top 100 list last year. This year it earned third.

The company attributes its success to putting the employees first and it allows animals in the workplace–even goats. In the fall, employees moved into a brand new building and say that also improved the work environment.

The company specializes in emotional and behavioral health.

“It really recognizes our commitment to providing our employees policies that foster a good work-life balance, and flexible working schedule, and community service and a really generous benefits package,” said Carol Metzler, Oregon Research Institute Science Director.

In the medium company category, Ninkasi Brewing Company earned 22nd. Pacific Benefit Consultants came in at 17th. Olsson Industrial Electric in Springfield came in fourth in the large category. Pacific Continental Bank in Eugene came in 23rd, and Lone Rock Timber in Roseburg came in 27th.

No where in this post do I see a mention of what the companies are ranked on or who did the survey.

The ranking comes from Oregon Business magazine. Here is the link to see their full lists and more information: http://www.oregonbusiness.com/linda/9441-the-2013-100-best-companies-are-announced

You forgot about KPD Insurance in Springfield. With their 69 employees they ranked 31st in the medium category. They have made the Oregon Business 100 Best companies to work for 8 out of the last 10 years. Pretty impressive to be selected and even more to maintain that level.
