EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Celebration organizers say the fastest growing event over the years is the Pet Parade. More than one- hundred decked out people and their pets showed up for the furry march this morning. Cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits and even turtles shelled out some pet pride. Pet Parade coordinators say there were 60 entries this year by local groups and individuals, two-thirds the amount of entries for the Eugene Celebration’s parade.
“To be able to come down here and see all these cute dogs, it’s just exhilirating and it”s so good for our dogs too, they get all the experience and all the exposure,” said Erica Makai, who volunteers at Luv-a-Bull/Luv-a-Little rescue.
More than ten different pet oriented vendors were set-up for people to browse. A series of competitions also took place, like best pet/owner look-a-like and best pet trick.
