Eugene Closer to Solving Budget Gap

Money3EUGENE, Ore. — The city of Eugene will be one step closer to solving the budget gap Wednesday night once the city manager issues his recommendation.

City Manager Jon Ruiz will present to the Eugene Budget Committee with his recommendations for the fiscal year 2015 budget.

Earlier this year, the committee came up with six options to fill the $3 million budget gap.

One option is across-the-board cuts of 2 percent to all city departments, including cuts to city services like the fire and police departments. Other options for filling the gap include closing the Sheldon and Bethel branches of the Eugene Public Library.

The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the Eugene Library downtown branch.
