Eugene Council Debates Exclusion Zone

EUGENE, Ore. — Residents packed the city council meeting Monday night to have their voices heard.

The first topic of discussion was the downtown public exclusion zone. The ordinance bans people who commit a crime downtown from going back downtown is set to expire soon.

Council is pondering extending, changing, or just letting the ordinance expire in October.

More than 50 people signed up to speak.

The council’s expected to have formal discussions about the future of the ordinance on October 8.
